Mesquite Championship Rodeo
When you think Texas, cowboy boots, large belt buckles, and bull riding naturally come to mind. You’ll see those — and much more— at the Mesquite Championship Rodeo. Today, thousands of fans gather at the arena every Saturday in June through August (and at some special events throughout the year) to watch saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, bareback riding, team roping, barrel racing, and tie-down roping.

Concerts
In addition to hosting the rodeo, The Mesquite Arena is at the heart of the live music scene. The Arena has welcomed a wide array of award-winning musical acts including country music all-stars Mark Chesnutt, Travis Tritt, Clay Walker, legends, Keith Sweat, The Commodores and The Temptations. In terms of genres, there’s been everything under the Texas sun, including country, funk, Latin music, classic rock, and even R&B and hip-hop at the Hip-Hop Cowboys Spring Rodeo.

A Lesson in Bull Riding
In addition to the competitive events, you and your children are invited down to the dirt before the show starts to meet the cowboys and cowgirls and to take part in free pony rides, roping demos, stick horse barrel racing and bull-riding lessons!

Mutton Bustin’ for the Kids
While you’re down there before the show, sign your child up to enter a drawing to participate in some fan-favorite Mutton Bustin'! In Mutton Bustin' the child climbs onto a wild, wooly sheep and tries to hold on for the best ride of the night.
